Viticulture
Romana Vini follows the rule that says, “great wines are made in the vineyard”. That is why we chose the best places for planting, several of them where vineyards have existed for decades. The fruits for all our wines come exclusively from our two properties: Quinta do Porto Nogueira and Quinta da Escusa. We only practice careful, sustainable and certified agriculture by the Integrated Production Standards in both of them. In 2019, we started implementing a 3-year plan for Organic or Bio production methode.

Oenology
Our main commitment is to produce excellent wines. Quality is paramount and each stage of the winemaking process incorporates this philosophy. The wines become as good and as special as the quality of its grapes. The uniqueness of Casa Romana Vini wines comes largely from its vineyards. In oenology, we are mainly caregivers of the fruit, focused on understanding and realizing the full potential of the vines and the fruit that comes into the cellar.

Segmentation
Blends
Harvest – these wines are made of grapes selected at the harvesting phase and in the cellar, which reflect a combination of grape varieties, carefully chosen for a fine final result, usually without fermentation or aging in wooden barrels.
Reserva – this class of wines are made with our best grapes, in an optimal combination of grape varieties for very special final products, usually with fermentation and/or aging in wooden barrels for 9 to 12 months.
Grande Reserva – wines that correspond to a great choice among unique wines, and aged in barrels for 18 to 24 months.
Mono-Varietal Wines
This class of wines is produced from grape varieties that show superior quality in each vintage. Given this, such wines are only produced and bottled in years of exceptional grapes. These wines are fermented and aged in French oak barrels. They can assume the category Reserva as well.Sparkling Wines
Our sparkling wine is made from white grapes (Chardonnay & Arinto), and it is produced by the champenoise or traditional method, with a first fermentation in French oak barrels for 3 months, followed by a second fermentation in the bottle for 24 months. The dégorgement is carried out at the end of those 24 months after which it follows a 3-month stage in the bottle, until it goes to the store. It is a dry sparkling wine, with very low sugar levels - Brut Nature - which assumes the Reserva category.
